Do you know what sort of hairstyle suits a round face?

Do you know what sort of hairstyle suits a round face? I have had the same hairstyle (short) for 3 years and really want a change. My friends suggested I grow my hair but I remember having long hair once and it didn閳ユ獩 really work for me.

As a licensed practicing cosmetologist for 22 years, maybe I can help. In order to elongate the face, or the illusion of a longer face, some hair around the neck is always a good choice, also around the sides of the face and around the ears, something short or a style worn back and off the face it more flattering, also something with a little height will help with the illusion of lengthening your face. I too have a round face. Stay away from any sort of a "bob" cut or anything with "whispies" on the face. Layers would also help. One length hair draws the facial lines down and makes it even worse. With layers you can do more, have more versatility with the style. It's boring to have the same style and never change it. Maybe give these ideas a chance.

Round faces and very short styles are not a good match. But if you really want to keep your style quite short make sure you keep some length through the front. Height at the crown is good for lengthening out your face. Or choose styles that fall below your chin with wispy, tapered ends to take the focus off the roundness. Don閳ユ獩 go for centre parts, blunt fringes or styles with too much fullness around the sides.

Round faces are characterised by a round chin. Because they lack the length of the oval face, the hair should be cut to create the illusion of length in the face. This is achieved by creating height on top of the head, and minimising hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and around the ears.

An ideal hairstyle for a round face should add to the volume on the top of the head to create a slimming effect. A spiky hairstyle must be avoided. A hairstyle for a round face should ideally be short and choppy that can make the face appear slimmer. Hairstyles for a round face should preferably have layered bangs and not straight bangs. Curls are fine but they must be placed near the crown and definitely not near the cheeks.

Or if you prefer long hair, hairstyles done in layers or in a shag looks good on a round face because it makes the face more slender. Long hair piled up on the head also makes the face look thinner. The same slenderizing effect can be achieved with the use of cleverly placed highlights, especially highlights near the face. Long curls with dangling tendrils also suit the round face quite nicely, as long as the tendrils do not fall near the cheeks or close to the face.

But whatever hairstyle you choose, make sure you feel comfortable with it and you like it. Don't choose a hairstyle that fits your face, but you don't like it.

Hope it helps!
